One Small Change
Last night is the earliest I've gone to bed all year. I woke up at 4:30am this morning feeling refreshed and ready to. attack my day. What happened? What was different about last night?
Last night I left my computer at work. That's it! That's the only change I made. That one small decision produced a revolution in my life. I didn't waste time on Twitter last night because I couldn't waste time on Twitter last night. My computer was gone. I put my phone in my mailbox at 9:36pm. I fell asleep by 9:45pm. I woke up at 4:30am feeling refreshed and ready to attack my day.
All worry, stress, procrastination and anxiety melts in the face of a 5:00am wake-up. It just melts. My mind slows down. Time slows down. I can hear the waves of the ocean crash, clear as could be. The world feels still and calm. Anything feels possible. I'm grateful to be alive. I'm grateful to work at Write of Passage. My life simply makes sense before 5:00am. It's too early to worry.
I have finite wells of truth within me, but they all close early. Wake up before 5:00am to learn who you truly are. If you seek clarity, wake up before 5:00am. To pursue wisdom, wake up before 5:00am. Wake up before 5:00am.
